About this event

Event synopsis

Policy in Practice has been commissioned by the Local Government Association to assess the impact of the local housing allowance freeze on homelessness and the related cost to local authorities.

As part of this research we are establishing a panel of experts from local authorities throughout England and Wales. The panel will validate our findings and contribute to our understanding of the following questions:

  1. What are the costs of homelessness, how are these costs changing and why?
  2. How is homelessness funding spent and what is the experience around this?
  3. How might additional funding be used to reduce homelessness?

Please join this panel

The published research will retain anonymity of all contributions, but the assistance of the authority will be acknowledged.

We believe the welfare system can work more effectively.

It can help people towards greater independence if we make it simple for people and organisations to understand.

We simplify the welfare system by showing people how policy affects them.

We show local authorities how individual households are affected by all policy changes, now and in the future.

We talk to government on a national level to influence policy.
